This woodland hideaway boasts a tucked-away location, surrounded by trees in the Heights of Achterneed. Sleeping two guests, the lodge is the perfect romantic bolthole for couples looking to escape the humdrum of everyday life in picturesque surroundings. The walking opportunities in the area are endless, from exhilarating mountain climbs to loch-side strolls. For evenings out, the bustling town of Strathpeffer is just 2 miles away. After a day of adventure, crack open the bubbly and sink into your relaxing, wood-fired hot tub.

The beautiful, wooden lodge is bright and airy, with an open-plan layout and large windows framing the rural surroundings. The property has a home-away-from-home vibe, with subtle Highland decor and plush soft furnishings. Adorning the walls, you’ll find a collection of colourful artworks depicting the local landscapes and wildlife.

A few steps lead to the veranda and into the spacious lounge/kitchen/diner. Spend time here, cooking delicious dinners for two in the sleek kitchen area, to share together at the dining table next to the cosy wood burner. After dinner, snuggle up on the sofa to watch a classic film on the Smart TV. The sofa converts to a bed, to accommodate another guest if required. When day turns to night, retire to the inviting double bedroom for a good night’s rest. A stylish shower room completes this wonderful rural retreat.

Turns out we were the first people to stay at Cascade Cabin, and it was a real privilege. The Cabin is a 5-star wooden lodge built by its owner Sandy, and its evident he's a proper craftsman. The Cabin is beautiful and in a fabulous location. Its roomy, comfortable and luxurious and we loved it. Strathpeffer is well placed for visiting both East anRead mored West Highlands, so makes a good base when touring around, as we were. Definitely the place we'd stay at when we're in the area again.
