Immerse yourselves in the spectacular natural beauty of the Cairngorms National Park when you and your family or friends enjoy a stay at this luxurious country house. Sleeping 18 guests, and welcoming four-legged friends too, the grand, nine-bedroom Scottish retreat nestles in a sizeable estate, 1.5 miles from Tomintoul in the magnificent Highlands. Positioned at the end of the Ailnack Gorge, Scotland’s largest glacial meltwater channel, close to the River Avon, the impressive, fairy-tale retreat offers exceptional opportunities for walking, mountain climbing, cycling and salmon and trout fishing.
Wander inside the turreted abode to find a wealth of elegance and character and ample space for everyone to spread out. The splendid dining room is the perfect place to gather around the table to feast on delicious dishes such as homemade haggis, wild Scottish venison and mouth-watering cranachan, finished off with a wee dram from a local distillery.
Choose between two lounges, one with an open fire and the other with a wood burner to bask beside long into autumn evenings. Gaze out towards Ailnack Water from one lounge and settle down in front of the Smart TV in the other. There is also a study for quiet contemplation and a small bar where you can mix yourself a whisky sour.
The gorgeous kitchen/diner, with its four ovens, table, central island and breakfast bar, marries country house style with contemporary convenience to perfection. Take turns putting on the chef’s apron to prepare hearty Scottish fare, as well as cups of fresh coffee and tea to enjoy with newly baked shortbread. A utility room, boot room and WC are also downstairs. Canine companions may sleep in the boot room or in the external kennels.
Make your way to the upper floors of the property to discover your sumptuous bedrooms. These include three super-king-size rooms and two king-size rooms, one of which has zip-and-link beds and can also be made up as a twin. There are two other twin bedrooms and two doubles as well. Five of the beautiful bedrooms have en-suite bathrooms, one with a period-style free-standing bath, and there is a family shower room.
Make the most of your superb setting and head off to explore the 3,500-acre estate. Walk beside the river and through swathes of woodland, looking out for wildlife as you go. Enjoy relaxing with your family and friends out in your private garden area to the side and rear of the house too. Play games on the lawn, sip sundowners on the terrace and watch the stars appear as you grill fresh Scottish salmon on the BBQ.
