There's also a bird of prey centre and treetop walkways here, so it's perfect for a family day out.

If botanic gardens are your thing, visit the University of Dundee Botanic Garden (19 miles) where you can find three pools holding aquatic plants, a well and even a mountain. A stunning cottage in an equally stunning location. The best holiday cottage I've ever stayed in, it was warm and comfortable, despite the storm outside! The views are beautiful, the area peaceful, the hosts kind and welcoming, and the cottage had everything we needed. The garden is huge and enclosed. We spent a lovely day in Edinburgh and enjoyed Read morethe museums in Dundee. Trips around the coast and to St Andrews were also very pleasant, despite the weather! Would love to visit again in summer. Hide

We were delighted with the clean and well equipped accommodation, and welcome from our hosts, particularly the bottle of wine and shortbread. The garden is safe and secure for children and dogs. Fabulous views from the mezzanine area and balcony. Peaceful and relaxing stay for 3 generations of our family; 4 adults, 2 infants and 2 dogs. The Byre is spacious, warm and comfortable. Huge secure garden for dogs to run about. Lots of sitting areas in the house gives everyone space. Amazing views from the balcony. Situated only a few miles from several great beaches. Due to the forecast for snow we had to leave a day early, as the road leading to the Byre is a winding, uphill single traRead moreck road. We couldn't risk the possibility of being snowed in, which has happened to the owners before. Would definitely go back. Hide
