On the fringes of the Trossachs National Park, the village of Killin is home to a handful of local shops and eateries where you can reward a day's efforts with mouth-watering fodder. Only a short stroll from the house, the Falls of Dochart are mere yards from your doorstep; view the falls from the bridge and challenge the children to a good old-fashioned game of Poohsticks.

On the western banks, you are only a few hundred yards from Loch Tay. At 15 miles long, Loch Tay is the largest loch in Perthshire and tempts visitors with a wide variety of sports and activities. Try your hand at windsurfing or sailing, or simply lace up your walking shoes and go for a hearty stank. For the ultimate experience, bundle up a picnic hamper and find a spot overlooking the water.

If you take your hiking seriously, the loch is flanked by the Ben Lawers mountain range, providing plenty of opportunities for experienced walkers to take to the hills and soak in the impressive sights from up high. Closer to home, Killin's very own stone circle (not far from the falls) provides a fascinating glimpse into the area's rich history and the lives of those who lived here in times gone by.

The place is clean, equipped with every necessary item, comfortable, and has a great location. I can't recommend it enough to others, and if I ever come back to the area I know where to stay. On top of all that, the owner is friendly and welcoming, which makes the place even better, because I see that in every corner of the cottage.

Heatherbank was probably the nicest place weve ever stayed in anywhere. Highly recommended. It is clean and well kept and has the most amazing views and two very pretty walks down to Killin for food. We loved the rain room (we come from the sunniest place in the continental US, so we didnt need sun.)
