This stunning lodge, right on the shore of Rascarrel Bay, is one of nine detached properties offering a luxurious getaway for two. It’s a couples’ retreat amidst the dramatic cliffs and coast of South West Scotland. With delightful decor, spacious and elegant rooms, plus indulgent details like a balcony hot tub, this property is the perfect place to escape the rat race.

Hidden away in a secluded and private bay location, and with an incredible space to enjoy, this property is as much about the outside as the inside. But the interiors are stunning themselves – a sleek, contemporary design sits beside the rustic views, bringing wilderness and comfort together.

Enter the lodge to discover the main, sociable heart of the home, the open-plan living space combining kitchen, dining area and lounge. The kitchen is a smart space, neatly tucked into one corner but with all the state-of-the-art equipment you need to self-cater in style. The dining table is set up perfectly for romantic meals, and the lounge is a calming place to sit and relax in front of the TV while the incredible sea view provides its own entertainment.

Head through the hall to the bedroom, another special space to unwind, with French doors out to the private balcony, a king-size bed, and it's own en-suite with both bath and shower, and his-and-hers basins, so the two of you can get ready in company.

Outside the apartment, the balcony space is a highlight. Elevated above the coastline, it gives you an incredible view, which you can enjoy while eating at the outdoor dining table or relaxing in your hot tub.

  • 1 king-size bedroom with TV with freeview
  • Large en-suite bathroom with bath, separate shower, double handbasins and W/C

Rascarrel Bay is part of the Solway Firth coastline, a stretch of rugged and beautiful shore - a romantic place to stroll and explore, spotting wildlife as you go. Trails, hikes, climbs, and cycle rides extend around this unspoilt coast for miles, so there's plenty of opportunities to get some exercise with majestic views. From here, you can wind your way around this craggy coast discovering mysterious coves, quiet bays, and dramatic outcroppings, and practice your landscape photography.

Head 3 miles to the picturesque village of Auchencairn for your groceries and other amenities, or for a meal out in the local restaurant. It's a lovely place to stroll, nestled beside the Auchencairn Burn. Or, for more delights, head inland 11 miles to the town of Castle Douglas. The town nestles beside the Carlingwark Loch and just a little way off floats the River Dee, home to the little island where Threave Castle sits imposingly. Spot the peregrine falcons nesting between the turrets or learn a little local history - the structure was originally home to Archibald the Grim, built in 1369, and is a towering 30 metres in height.

The Lodge is immaculate and has everything that you need and more. The Lodge is lovely and comfortable and the location and views are superb with lovely walks. We spent a long weekend here for our 25th wedding anniversary and felt sad leaving on Monday, and will most definitely book again in the future.
