One of just a handful of residential homes on the remarkable Isle of Skye, a stay in this cottage ensures privacy, peace and quiet throughout your well-deserved break. A family of five guests are ideally suited to enjoying some quality time in this secluded home, enjoying walks amongst the rolling hills that surround it or a trip into Skye’s Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

The home boasts an expertly thought out balance between modern and traditional style. Find contemporary pieces of design furniture, such as the stylish dining table and vibrant sofa, amongst feature fireplaces in the bedrooms. The resulting home is one filled to the brim with character and homely charm.

On arrival, head to the kitchen and stick the kettle on. Leaving the kitchen door wide open, you can enjoy far-reaching views of the surrounding hills, and the breakfast table is the ideal spot to enjoy a rest after a long trip. More formal evening dining can be enjoyed in the quality dining room, where fresh white walls create a bright and cheery atmosphere. After a long day on the Isle of Skye, you’ll desperately look forward to putting your feet up and getting engrossed in a good film, so switch on Sky TV and enjoy the warmth of the wood burner.

Cottage stairs lead onto the first floor, where you’ll find three bedrooms. Owing to the age of the home, all three of these rooms are compact and cosy. Get a good night’s sleep in two double bedrooms, or enjoy the privacy afforded in the cute single bedroom.

From the kitchen, you can head out onto a lovely enclosed garden with remarkable views over the pretty village of Glendale. Enjoy morning coffee or an evening tipple on the private patio.

Many head to the Isle of Skye to challenge themselves to the challenging Cuillin mountain range, an area which contains 11 Munros and 16 other summits to embark upon. This area covers a large space but is accessible around 30 miles away. Those looking for a less difficult outdoor excursion can enjoy walking and cycling routes along the Isle of Skye coast, which begins a mere 1 mile from home.

At the waterside, the local Loch Pooltiel (1 mile) is a great place to fish for pollock, cod, dogfish and more. Whilst heavy rain on your holiday is often a bad thing, here at Loch Pooltiel it often results in a huge waterfall cascading off one of Skye's highest cliffs, a stunning sight. These steep cliffs are home to many wild seabirds, so bring your binoculars along and keep your eyes peeled.

Fans of Scotland's finest export will enjoy a trip to the popular Talisker Distillery, 26.5 miles away. Head here for a tour of the distillery, enjoyable tastings and a place to grab a bottle or two to take home with you.

Another stunning day out is a trip to the local Dunvegan Castle (8.5 miles), leading on to the remarkable Coral Beach (12.5 miles). This unique beach is made up of crushed white coral, and when the sun comes out, the waters light up into a remarkable turquoise on a bright white background. Head here for a brisk swim or lovely family picnic.

We loved the character of this croft and could see the attention to detail that the owner has given:lovely selection of books, delightful welcome package, superbly equipped kitchen, Skye soaps to name a few. Access to the property is via an uphill track with two large gates, which is not ideal when wet and muddy. However, the views of the glen and tRead morehe sheep each day were wonderful. We had an amazing week in this cottage. It's so cosy, everything you need is there and you have wonderfull views. Our children loved the sheep we also went to trotternish. But we also loved this more quiet part of the island. We did a walk here and it was as if we were alone in the world. You never have that on Trotternish . We also die the HighlanRead moredgames in Portree. Also an experience! Absolutely recommended! Wish I was still there! Hide

Lovely home from home, had everything that we needed and more - kitchen well equipped. Cosy, and very comfortable bed. Lovely location, community feel, love the little shop round the corner. Enjoyed having Sky TV for the evenings it meant we could have a movie on most nights! We hope to return with our children one day!

This was a lovely, comfortable cottage. The drive up to the cottage is very steep but the views were worth it. Our week went by really quickly, was busy but we still managed to rest.

A comfortable & well provisioned property, a lovely location and friendly locals. Visit the shop which, despite it's outward appearance, is an Aladin's cave that stocks almost everything you can think of.

Another fantastic holiday cottage rented in a wonderful peaceful location. Glendale is a perfect base to explore the Isle of Skye but secluded enough to enjoy the peace and quiet.
