A short walk from the sandy beach at Largo Bay.  This traditional, terraced, stone-built fisherman's cottage is over 150 years old and stands in Lower Large Main Street, near the statue of Alexander Selkirk (Robinson Crusoe).

This picturesque little fishing village is in the East Neuk and offers wonderful opportunities for all the family, it is an ideal base for touring the East Coast and is within easy access to St Andrews, Edinburgh and Stirling. The area offers excellent walking, The Fife Coastal Path passes through Lower Largo, golfing, with many top rated links courses nearby and sailing on the Firth of Forth.  There is plenty in the area to keep children entertained as well with a leisure centre and pool in Leven as well as a cinema and an ice-rink in nearby Kirkcaldy.  The Scottish Deer Centre is a short drive away as is the Craigtoun Country park which boasts a great outdoor adventure play park.

Entering the house into the hallway you will find the lounge on the ground floor, it is a spacious room to enjoy time together as a family after a day out exploring.  There is Freeview TV and DVD as well as lots of games and toys for the younger members of the family to enjoy.  The kitchen follows on from the lounge and although compact is well equipped with electric oven and hob, dishwasher, washing machine, tumble dryer and fridge/freezer.  The bathroom on the ground floor has a shower over the bath and WC.  Up stairs on the first floor you will find the bedroom with bunk beds and the large bright master bedroom next door which has a king-size bed and en-suite shower room.  Moving up to the second floor accessed by quite a steep staircase there is a lovely bright double bedroom with en-suite WC and velux window with views across the roof tops and a view of the sea.

Venturing outside there is a small elevated enclosed garden accessed by steep stone steps with a handrail.  The garden has a picnic table and seating area and is a real suntrap although it may not be suitable for young children due to the steps.  There is secure storage for bikes and sports equipment and free street parking at the front of the house or a large free car park just 150 meters away.

 

 

Dogs are charged at £20 each per full or part week.

Silverlea is ideal for families, has everything you could need and well situated near the beach. Definitely not suitable for elderly or people with mobility problems due to the steep staircases to the bedrooms.

Cottage is litterally a stonesthrow from the beach in a quaint little fishing village ideally situated for visiting st Andrews, Dundee etc. The cottage is roomy, clean and all the beds are very comfortable. This was our second visit to lower largo but definitely not our last.

A beautifully modernised old Victorian terrace house that contains everything needed for a holiday. Those who can't walk any distance need to be aware that parking is almost impossible outside the house, but a free car park is about 150 yards away. In the evening there are usually plenty of places available. The village was not built to cater for tRead morehe Motor Age so great care is needed driving in the streets. The cottage was comfortable and ideally located for the beach and touring around Fife. Parking and garden not so good. Difficult to load and unload car - arriving and departing. While the car park, a few minutes walk away is available, it was too far for us to carry everything from there. We didn't actually use the garden as it was so steep.

I booked this because of the other reviews..... But I think they were for a different cottage. We didn't want to cook in the kitchen cooker very old extractor fan thick with grease and bulb gone leak under sink and very badly stained. I bought some bleach but smelled of damp. No mop so had to clean up dishwasher leak on my hands and knees.

One of the best equipped houses we have ever rented. No views except from the second floor bedroom but could walk to the beach in a couple of minutes. The stairs are fairly steep with shallow treads so care is needed especially, if, like me, you are elderly. Thankfully there is a downstairs bathroom with toilet. Well suited for golfers, easy drive to many great Fife courses. When Dumbarnie Links opens, this cottage will be ideal.
