Situated in a tranquil spot in the Lammermuir Hills, this stylishly converted byre makes a lovely holiday retreat for a couple or a family looking to enjoy the peace and quiet of this beautiful part of the Scottish countryside. With ample space for four guests, this delightful cottage also makes a perfect bolthole for anyone wanting to spend time in the vibrant city of Edinburgh.

 

This is a lovely warm property to relax in, with a traditional wood burner in the lounge, and a spacious sheltered hot tub with Bluetooth speakers and spectacular views across the valley. This stylishly designed period cottage has been imaginatively updated, beautifully furnished and decorated in a variety of eye-catching ways. Adjoined to the owner’s house, your privacy is assured.

 

After arriving at this pretty cottage, you will find the beautiful lounge which features a vaulted ceiling, wood burner and plenty of comfortable seating so you can snuggle up together and catch up with a favourite TV show or a good book. The lovely dining area is perfect for a family meal or a romantic dinner for two which you can prepare in the elegantly designed and fully equipped kitchen. The ground floor also features a spacious and attractive bathroom.

 

Heading upstairs there are two spacious and airy bedrooms – a delightful king-size room with a TV, and a bright and cheerful twin zip-and-link which can be made up as a super-king-size on request.

 

Stepping outside, you can unwind in the enclosed garden which has a charming seating area where you can share al fresco meals, enjoy a glass of wine in the evening, or spend the night stargazing.

  • 2 dogs allowed. Dogs are charged at £20 each per full or part week
  • There is an Accidental Damage Deposit of £200 when booking at this property, however this may be waived for £25. We’ll provide more details about this when booking your holiday.

The property enjoys an idyllic location close to the Scottish Borders and is surrounded by beautiful countryside and farmland. The immediate area is a haven for walkers, cyclists and nature lovers to discover, with numerous country tracks and forest trails to explore. It's also a good area for anglers with the River Tweed and a number of trout fisheries nearby. You can head to Hillend which is the home of the popular Midlothian Snowsports Centre (16 miles) with opportunities for dry-slope skiing and snowboarding. The thriving town of Lauder (14 miles) has a variety of great restaurants, shops and pubs and is home to the magnificent 16th century Thirlestane Castle which plays host to a variety of major events including the Vintage Motor Extravaganza, the Scottish Championship Horse Trials and the Tour de Lauder. Heading north you will reach the vibrant Scottish capital of Edinburgh (16.5 miles). With its immense range of shops, eateries, pubs, museums, monuments and parks, the city has something for everyone. Among the many highlights in the city are the Royal Yacht Britannia, Edinburgh Castle, Holyrood Park, Portobello Beach, Edinburgh Zoo, Craigmillar Castle, the Scottish National Portrait Gallery, Cameron Toll Shopping Centre, Dean Village and Murrayfield Stadium.

A beautiful warm home with wonderful hosts. If weathers wet, take your wellies as theres lovely walks to the moors and other places from the house. Lots of lovely places to visit nearby. Brothershiels Byre is located off the beaten path, it's quiet and a great place for a getaway from city life. Hosts are friendly. House is comfortable, could have been a tad cleaner. Beds are great, sheets were clean and welcome hamper was very thoughtful. Great selection of books available in the lounge. Water pressure and hot water in the bathrooRead morems are really great. This is a wonderful place to stay, so peaceful. It's perfect for visiting Edinburgh and the surrounding area. The cottage is great, we found everything we needed was provided. We didn't use the hot tub (may be next time we visit). A little bit too cold... We will will be back next year

Lovely clean and well equipped property. Photos didn't do the property justice. Lovely large lounge and good size bedrooms. It was a real treat having the use of the hot tub. Ideal doggy holiday. Plenty of places to visit (beaches, country parks and of course so near to Edinburgh.)

Beautiful peaceful location, ideal for getting to Edinburgh, 10 minute drive to Gorebridge train station then 30 minutes on train. Just returned from a super stay at the Bryer. We really enjoyed staying in this cottage. Its a very peaceful and private location and easy access to the main roads once you have passed over the three cattle grids. There arent any foot paths from the cottage but the main drive is all you need-the views are beautiful and its good underfoot! Great holiday cottage, set amongst farmland and beautiful countryside. Owners live in the adjoining house. Owners very friendly and helpful, left a bottle of wine and shortbread for us. Hot tub lovely feature and nice is inside a wooden room, with lovely views. Ideal base for visiting Edinburgh, would definitely recommend.

Lovely comfortable cottage with everything provided that you might need. The large enclosed hot tub was fabulous with a great view. Fantastic sized property, has everything you could need. Peaceful location for those looking to get away for quiet time. Hot tub was amazing! Nearest shop for food is about 10/15 mins in car. Train Station is also about 10/15 mins away with train to Edinburgh every 30 mins.

Highly recommend for a lovely break! Owners are very friendly and accommodating but also give you privacy. The cottage is lovely and has everything you need. You do need a car to get about but its ideally situated to explore nice walks and not far away from attractions and Edinburgh city centre.

The cottage is very clean, beautifully presented with everything you could possibly need to enjoy your stay. The hot tub, with views over the fields & hills is a real treat. Fantastic location, little out of the way but also close enough to get places, just what we wanted. House is a good size, we had 2 adults 2 kids and 2 dogs. The outside area is good for the dogs and the hot tubs was a nice addition. Robes and towels supplied along with the bedding which is great when trying to travel light.
