Speyside is an exciting region in the north eastern corner of the Central Highlands, incorporating many pretty and characterful towns both inland and along the Moray Firth coastline. The spirit of Scotland is captured in its many whisky distilleries, annual festivals and culture around the famed River Spey.
Visit during May or September for special nosings, or get welcomed all year round by the friendly country pubs, locals and famous names. Around the small country towns of Aberlour, Dufftown and Rothes you’ll find the highest number of distilleries per square mile, but Glenlivet is also home to one of the best known, and Elgin also has much to offer.
When you’re not sampling the world’s finest whisky, you have Speyside’s natural beauty to explore. Fish for fat salmon and trout to your heart’s content in the River Spey or enjoy the award-winning beaches and wildlife near Elgin and along the Moray coast.
