Stranraer is a town in Inch, Wigtownshire, in the west of Dumfries and Galloway, southwest Scotland. It lies on the shores of Loch Ryan, on the northern side of the isthmus joining the Rhinns of Galloway to the mainland.
Stranraer has a long history as a ferry port for services between south-west Scotland and Northern Ireland. The town has many shops and there are plenty of places to dine out too. Be sure to spend some time exploring Castle St John and Logan Botanic Gardens.
